Can You Save Your Marriage Alone?

Save Your Marriage Today! You may believe you have the power to save your marriage alone when you are having marital trouble. However, saving your marriage alone is more difficult than you might imagine.

For a lot of men and women, it is just futile. The term “save your marriage alone” means that your spouse is not working with you to try to preserve your union, and acting solo often is more detrimental than beneficial.

Does It Ever Work?

In some situations you might be able to save your marriage alone.  Such is the case if your partner does not realize there is a problem or when you do not have any issues with him or her. If your problem is a personal one and you do love your spouse, it might be advantageous to save your marriage alone.

For instance, it is your concern if you are considering having an affair. You are saving your marriage alone when you decide to put your marriage first and not cheat.
It also might be successful if you are questioning whether or not you still love your husband or wife. You act to save your marriage alone if you actively work to restore your love, rather than letting your doubts go on unchecked.

When Won’t It Work?

Yet, here are a few situations where saving your marriage alone is not very likely to be possible. One example would be when your spouse is being unfaithful. If you are the only one who attempts to correct the problems in your relationship, your spouse may keep on cheating, and your marital troubles will continue or even get worse.

In the case where you are neglecting your spouse’s needs, it might be possible to save the marriage, but you have to evaluate your part in the breakdown in the communication in the relationship.

This is also the situation if both of you feel as if your love is waning or you seem to be arguing constantly. You can only save your marriage alone by altering yourself and what you do. But if your partner does not make any adjustments, you will be left with unresolved feelings for as long as you remain a couple.

Therefore, it is important to discuss your problems candidly so that both of you have a clear understanding of what each person expects from the other. If you keep your needs a secret, your spouse is not likely to read your mind, and you will be saving the marriage alone – and probably fall short.

However, saving your marriage is always worth a try if you still love your spouse and feel like there is the possibility.
